The carbon cycle
The carbon cycle is an installation searching for alternative systems inspired by nature. The carbon cycle process on Earth has four elements: photosynthesis, cellular respiration, combustion, and decomposition. Exploring signifiers of these different aspects, the different elements of the installation are composed of ecologically responsible materials: cornstarch and salt clay, coffee waste clay, sawdust composites, agar, gelatine and orange peel bioplastics, fabric waste and other found materials. Native plants that have been sowed from foraged seeds and cared for by the artist were presented within the installation and they were replanted in urban wastelands across Montreal after the presentation. The Molotov seed bombs are full of native seeds and soil and have also been used to rewild deserted spaces in the city.
